Resources for Students and Student Loans

Congratulations! Making the decision to pursue higher education is an important step that can open doors and provide opportunities, but as you graduate you must start preparing for repayment of the loans used to pay for your education. Every 28 seconds someone defaults on their student loans in California. The average student debt balance is over $35,000, making it difficult for borrowers to buy homes, invest, and start businesses. CalKIDS

Saving for college starts early. If your child was born on or after July 1st, 2022, your child may be eligible for a CalKIDS scholarship account.

The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) was launched in 2022 by the State of California with a clear mission: to help jumpstart college savings for children statewide by awarding scholarship accounts to youth across the state.

Administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, CalKIDS takes the initiative by automatically offering children born in California and eligible public school students in California a CalKIDS Scholarship Account, along with other potential financial incentives.

California Student Aid Commission

California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) provides students with the information needed to file for financial aid (FAFSA and CADAA). CSAC’s Cash for College Workshops offer students the opportunity to ask questions, receive answers, and assistance to fill out the applications with experts. They can also connect students with other resources and opportunities for financial aid.
